Ecosystem Pathways Project Update

CARIN is leading a project called the Ecosystem Pathways Needs Assessment to provide a better understanding of the current resources, supports and gaps that exist in Central Alberta to move entrepreneurs and small to medium businesses (SMEs) along their technology and innovation journey.

In collaboration with ecosystem partners, CARIN will undertake an environmental scan, compile a digital inventory of regional assets and establish future recommendations that help address current gaps.

Project objectives are:

  1. Establish a Synchronized Regional Gateway: Implement a formalized "No Wrong Door" process to ensure every entrepreneur is directed to the optimal resource, regardless of their initial point of entry.

  2. Bridge Post-Incubator Gaps: Identify specific hurdles faced after the incubation phase to develop targeted programming and mentorship opportunities.

  3. Develop a Digital Asset Inventory: Create a preliminary, centralized digital inventory of all resources, training, and tools available across the CARIN network.

  4. Expand Ecosystem Engagement: Conduct comprehensive interviews with municipalities, economic development leaders, and diverse community voices to inform and guide the expansion of the regional innovation ecosystem to include underrepresented communities and groups.

Two stakeholder engagement meetings were held over the summer, and we are now in the process of developing the Project Charter to help guide next steps.  If you are an entrepreneur, business, service provider, or organization in central Alberta that would like to get involved, please contact: karen.vavrek@rdpolytech.ca  for more information.
